Alsace
Halfway on the recommended route you will pass by the Alsace region in France. If you want to break up the long car drive, we recommend you stay in one of the small villages here and enjoy some nice Alsatian cuisine, such as choucroute garnie and flammekueche, and most of all the wine!
Recommended cities:
Strassbourg, the biggest and busiest town.

Colmar, the second biggest and busiest town. Still has a charming village center with some nice restaurants.

Riquewihr and Kaysersberg, authentic villages with a nice ambiance.

Switzerland
One hour further you will find yourself in Switzerland, where we recommend you to stay in Basel. This is a large city, with some nice architecture and musea.

For cheese
If you like Gruyere, this large restaurant with a view is a nice pit stop along the way.
Restoroute Motel de la Gruyère
Montreux
A small city along the Leman Lake, Montreux is nice to have a pitstop and stroll along the lakeside.
